Hello! My name is Julie Cummings & I am excited to invite you to my Art Studio! I am a teacher & artist with a BFA in Painting (LSU) & an MFA in Illustration (SCAD). I have 12 years of experience as an art educator & 2 years of post-graduate education in Art Therapy. I have 5 years of experience working with older adults with cognitive decline, Dementia & Alzheimer's disease.
I pride myself in a teaching philosophy and learning environment which supports individualized art instruction & a positive, fun, encouraging experience for all my students.
My art studio & classroom provides a nurturing environment for the unique & growing creative spirit. All skill levels are welcome, class sizes are never larger than 8 students supporting individualized attention & all materials are provided.

Class Times & Pricing:

Art classes are organized into monthly sessions priced at $175.00. You can start your session at anytime.

Each session includes 4, hour long classes scheduled for one day per week, all materials provided.

*Extended Art Lessons are offered at $20.00 per half-hour.
*Private Art Lessons are also offered at $55.00 per hour, all materials included and can be scheduled at a time that works best for you.
Classes:
Creative Discovery: (Any Skill Level/Ages 6-12)
This class is geared towards the developing creative spirit and not only provides art education but a fun, nurturing and inspiring art studio experience. We'll cover the basics of drawing, acrylic and watercolor painting, printmaking, collage, and design. This is a great class in preparation for Portfolio Prep. Any skill level is welcome. (This class can also include Portfolio Prep students if this time works better)
Portfolio Prep: This class is for art students preparing a portfolio for Garrison, Savannah Arts Academy or any other art school. Beginning to develop artistic skills and create art work for a portfolio can't start soon enough. Developing a really skilled and diverse portfolio takes time. This class offers an atmosphere of fun developmental creativity, offering skill building with a focus on creating specific portfolio pieces as well as practice for observed drawing sessions.
Art Therapy Enrichment: (All Ages, scheduled upon request)Creating art is proven to build connections in thought processing, encourage stress relief, exercise fine motor skills and support a positive and joyful well-being. It is a perfect addition to a whole person-centered lifestyle for all ages. Making art builds self-esteem and encourages healing and self-discovery. This class offers an atmosphere of peaceful creativity.
Arts & Crafts Club! (Ages 6-17) Arts & Crafts Club is geared towards the skills of making objects for decoration and practical use by hand like jewelry making, textile design, ceramics, weaving & more! It's often a great way to nurture the creative spirit of a young fine artist or foster those developing art skills. Arts & Crafts has numerous benefits, including stress reduction, boosts mood & creativity, fosters social interaction, & even improves physical skills like fine motor control.
